This panel contains contact and other pertinent info for dive buddies.
SurfaceInterval makes extensive use of Apple's built-in Address Book Database.
This is the same database that is used by Apple's Address Book application.
Whenever a dive buddy is added to SurfaceInterval's
custom menus, SurfaceInterval will automatically import and export address
information to and from the Apple Address Book. By doing so, we don't need
to maintain two separate databases for dive buddies.
In addition, you can take full advantage of iSync if you want your dive buddies'
contact information to be available on multiple computers.

Contact Info
Here is where you enter address and contact info for the dive buddy you are adding.
You'll notice that the address fields will be filled in for you automatically whenever you enter
a buddy name that coincides with an existing Address Book entry.
Email address
SurfaceInterval will attempt to validate the entered email address for proper structure. Once it is satisfied that you have entered
a potentially valid email address, the email link will be enabled. Clicking on that link, will launch your default email application
with a pre-addressed message to the indicated recipient. Note that SurfaceInterval does not actually attempt to validate the address online.
It simply verifies that the entered address follows the generally accepted conventions for email addresses. Specifically, the email address
must contain at least 7 characters, including an @ sign, and at least one period. In addition, the period must be followed by at least 3 characters.
(ex. a@b.com)
Web address
SurfaceInterval will also attempt to validate the entered web address for proper structure. Once it is satisfied that you have entered
a potentially valid web address, the website link will be enabled. Clicking on that link, will launch your default browser and attempt to navigate to the indicated web site. Note that SurfaceInterval does not actually attempt to validate the address online.
It simply verifies that the entered address follows the generally accepted conventions for web addresses.
Last Dive Info
This group provides information related to the most recent dive undertaken with this buddy, including date, dive number, locality and dive site. Clicking on the Locality or Dive Site button, will, of course, open up the Locality or Dive Site edit panels, respectively. Above this group, the total number of dives made with this buddy is displayed.
This info is based only on the entries in the currently open dive log.
Offline dive logs are not evaluated for this information.
Images
Buddy images are managed by the Address Book. Clicking on the image well will simply open the Address Book application from which you can add, delete or replace the image associated with that buddy.
Certification Level
The certification levels displayed in the buddy panel are based on PADI designations.
Your mileage may vary if you tend to identify with a different dive organization. If that is the case, just pick the one that most closly describes the certification level of the buddy.
